Habitat and Description: Scattered in openings in Quercus stellata-Juniperus virginiana (-Prosopis glandulosa) woodlands on slightly acid fine sandy loams over Carrizo Sand (Eocene), sometimes over claypan. Associates include Paspalum plicatulum, Andropogon ternariums, Bothriochloa ischaemum, a seeded form of Panicum virgatum, Eupatorium serotinum, E. compositifolium, Ptilimnium capillaceum, Verbena halei, Hypericum drummondii, Polygala incarnata, Helenium amarum, Fimbristylis puberula, Baccharis halimifolia, Lechea sansabeana, L. mucronata, Tradescantia humilis.
