Habitat and Description:
Stems ca. 2 ft. tall; local in moister clay soils in shallow depression/drainage in Stipa-dominated formerly grazed midgrass grassland on well drained, moderately alkaline, shallow gravelly clay loam Lithic Haplustolls (Aledo Series) on +/- level upland underlain by Walnut Clay or Goodland Limestone (Cretaceous). Associates include Juncus cf. interior, J. filipendulus, Cyperus squarrosus, Leucospora multifida, Tridens albescens, Rudbeckia amplexicaulus, Eleocharis sp.
