Habitat and Description: Rays yellow, maroon basally; common in seasonally moist fine sandy loam in graminoid-dominated opening in water oak woodland. Associates include Carex cherokeensis, C. complanata, Juncus brachycarpus, J. marginatus, Dichanthelium scoparium, Tridens strictus, Limnosciadium pumilum, Sabatia campestris, Rhynchospora caduca, Paspalum plicatulum, Neptunia lutea, Cacalia plantaginea.
