Habitat and Description: Locally common in deep, slightly acid, sandy loam Alfisols along margin of upland post oak woodland. Associates include Asclepias tuberosa, Bothriochloa saccharoides, Dalea helleri, Desmodium sessilifolium, elymus canadensis, Erigeron strigosus, Polytaenia texana, Ptilimnium nuttallii, Silphium simpsonii var. wrightii.
