Habitat and Description: Common in blackland prairie on heavy clay Vertisols (Ferris series), large opening in upland loblolly pine forest. Associates include Iva annua, Iva angustifolia, Agalinis heterophylla, Euphorbia marginata, Palafoxia callosa, Aster ericoides, Eustoma grandiflorum, Rudbeckia hirta, Eryngium yuccifolium, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sorghastrum nutans, Stenosiphon linifolius, Helianthus maximiliani, Liatris spp., Solidago rigida, Salvia azurea.
