Habitat and Description: Shrub to 4 ft.; fruit orange, occasional in reddish brown fine sandy loam Ustollic Paleargids (Randado Series) over Goliad Formation caliche, openings in mixed mesquite-blackbrush shrubland on dry level upland. Associates include Acacia berlandieri, A. rigidula, A. smallii, Celtis pallida, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Cordia boissieri, Croton incanus, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Jatropha dioica, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Leucophyllum frutescens, Prosopis glandulosa, Salvia ballotaeflora, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Waltheria indica, Cardiospermum dissectum, Florestina tripteris, Heliotropium texanum, Herissantia crispa, Melampodium cinereum, Oxalis dichondrifolia, Palafoxia texana, Schlerocarpus uniserialis, Simsia calva.
