Habitat and Description:
Distributed in South Texas, a low annual herb, branched from near base in open fields and sandy loam soil. Flowers axillary, drooping, yellow with black center. Leaves alternate, oval-spathulate, tapering to short petiole. Fruit a globose berry, covered with inflated calyx. Abundant in sandy grounds in Willacy County.
