Habitat and Description: Rare in cenizo shrubland in somewhat sandy soil over caliche exposed and formerly quarried on hilltop. Associates include Baccharis texana, Bothriochloa saccharoides, Bouteloua hirsuta, Bumelia celastrina, Colubrina texensis, Dalea multiflora, Eysenhardtia texana, Leucophyllum frutescens, Liatris mucronata, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Schoenocaulon drummondii, Sorghastrum nutans.
