Habitat and Description: Locally common in blue grama - buffalograss grassland on very shallow Potter soils on top of Ogalalla rimrock at edge of canyon complex. Associates include Allium drummondii, Bouteloua gracilis, Buchloe dactyloides, Calylophus hartwegii ssp. pubescens, Chaetopappa ericoides, Erioneuron pilosum, Hordeum pusillum, Linum rigidum, Melampodium leucanthum, Penstemon fendleri, Sphaeralcea coccinea, Vulpia octoflora and scattered shrubs such as Dalea formosa, Quercus mohriana, and Juniperus sp.
