Habitat and Description: Erect branched herb with terminal interrupted spikes. Annual. In open fields and waste places. Soil: sandy. Color: purple. Leaves: opposite, oblong-oval, serrate. Fruit: clustered, small capsule. Bark: pale. Roots: fibrous. Abundant in open ground.
