Locality: United States, Texas, Polk, Longleaf Pine Woodlands Trail (Champion International), ca. 100-500 ft. S of St. Rt. 62 from a point ca. 0.5-0.6 mi. W of its jct. with US Rt. 287 NW of Chester. Camden Quadrangle. Elev. ca. 300 ft.
Habitat and Description: Occasional in mixed pine-hardwoods savanna on relatively dry sandy ridgetop underlain by Willis Formation (Pleistocene). Associates include Aristolochia reticulata, Baptisia leucophaea, B. nuttalliana, Berlandiera pumila, Carex caroliniana, Chasmanthium sessiliflorum, Clematis reticulata, Cnidoscolus texana, Coreopsis lanceolata, Croton argyranthemus, Dichanthelium lanuginosum, D. laxiflorum, Echinacea angustifolia, Euphorbia corollata, Eustylis purpurea, Hedeoma hispidum, Hedyotis crassifolia, Helianthemum carolinianum, Heterotheca graminifolia, H. pilosa, Hieracium longipilum, Hymenopappus artemisiifolia, Indigofera miniata, Krigia occidentalis, Matelea cynanchoides, Melica mutica, Monarda fistulosa, Oenothera laciniata, Paspalum plicatulum, Penstemon laxiflorus, Phlox pilosa ssp. pulcherrima, Polygala mariana, P. nana, P. polygama. Pteridium aquilinum, Pycnanthemum albescens, Rhynchosia americana, R. latifolia, Salvia lyrata, Schizachyrium scoparium, Schrankia hystericina, Scleria ciliata, Scutellaria integrifolia, Stylosanthes biflora, Stillingia sylvatica, Tragia smallii, T. urens, T. urticifolia, Verbena canadensis.
