Habitat and Description: Frequent in shade of shrubs and small trees in mesquite woodland on well drained, moderately alkaline, calcareous sandy clay loam (Colibro Series) over recent alluvium on level upland. Woody associates include Acacia rigidula, Aloysia gratissima, Baccharis texana, Berberis trifoliolata, Celtis reticulata, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Guaiacum angustifolium, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia lindheimeri, O. leptocaulis, Prosopis glandulosa, Ptelea trifoliata, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Solanum triquetrum, Yucca constricta, Y. treculeana, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
