Habitat and Description: Shrub 3-6 ft. tall; common in xerophytic thorn shrubland on moderately deep, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline, fine sandy loam Ustochreptic Camborthids (Copita Series), in flat between gravel hills. Associates include Cercidium texanum, Koeberlinia spinosa, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa.
