Habitat and Description: Frequent in grassy diverse ground layer of open fire-maintained upland longleaf pine savanna on sandy soils on convex ridgetop underlain by Willis Formation. Associates include late successional grasses such as Andropogon gerardii, Schizachyrium tenerum, S. scoparium, Paspalum floridanum, Tripsacum dactyloides and Panicum virgatum along with 70 other herbaceous species.
