Habitat and Description: Common in moderately deep, somewhat excessively drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline, saline clay (Maverick Series, Ustollic Camborthids) on somewhat eroded terrace of intermittent drain between gravel (fossil) slopes. Associates include Castela erecta spp. texana, Condalia spathulata, Frankenia johnstonii, Guaiacum angustifolium, Hechtia glomerata, Jatropha dioica, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Leucophyllum frutescens, Tiquilia canescens, Ziziphus obtusifolius, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Aristida roemeriana, Erioneuron pilosum, Hilaria belangeri, Sporobolus pyramidatus.
