Habitat and Description: Locally frequent, at least 100 plants in sparsely vegetated grassland on deep, loose, gently undulating, somewhat excessively drained, neutral fine sand (Falfurrias Series, Typic Udipsamments) on Pleistocene-era barrier island otherwise vegetated by oak-redbay woodland. Associates include Palafoxia hookeriana, Thelesperma nuecense, Polanisia erosa subsp. breviglandulosa, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Schrankia latidens, Croton capitatus, C. argyranthemus.
