Habitat and Description: Rare in grama-dominated grassland openings in woodland of Quercus emoryi, Juniperus deppeana, Pinus cembroides in dry sandy-gravelly soil in broad valley between igneous slopes. Associates include Anthericum torreyi, Aristida ternipes, Artemisia ludoviciana, Bothriochloa barbinodis, Bouteloua gracilis, B. hirsuta, Calliandra humilis, Castilleja tortifolia, Cologania angustifolia, Commelina dianthifolia, Cyperus fendlerianus, Eragrostis spp., Eryngium heterophyllum, Galium microphyllum, Hedeoma nanum, Hedyotis nigricans, Hieracium fendleri, Leptochloa dubia, Lotus oroboides, Lycurus phleoides, Machaeranthera pinnatifida, Melampodium strigosum, Panicum obtusum, Phlox mesoleuca, Thelesperma megapotamicum, Vernonia marginata.
