Habitat and Description: Locally common in shelter of small shrub thickets within shortgrass grassland on extremely shallow stony clay soils on +/- level ridgetop of Edwards Limestone, N and E of picnic pavilion at S tip of finger of ridge on N side of valley of Independence Creek. Woody associates include Acacia sp., Agave lechuguilla, Berberis trifoliolata, Condalia viridis, Dalea formosa, Dasylirion texanum, Diospyros texana, Juniperus pinchotii, Mimosa sp., Opuntia sp., Yucca reverchonii.
