Habitat and Description: Stems reclining. Disks and rays yellow. Common in deep, moderately well-drained, neutral, fine sand Grossarenic Paleustalfs (Patilo Series) over clayey sediments of the Calvert Bluff Formation (Eocene). In partial shade at edge of post oak-blackjack oak - eastern red cedar woodland on +/- level upland. Associates include Andropogon ternarius, Aristida desmantha, A. oligantha, Cenchrus incertus, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Cnidoscolus texanusCroptilon divaricatum, Croton capitatus, C. glandulosus, Diodia teres, Eragrostis secundiflora, Eriogonum multiflorum, Froelichia floridata, Gnaphalium obtusifolium, Helianthus debilis, Lechea tenuifolia, Leptoloma cognatum, Liatris elegans, Palafoxia hookeriana, Paspalum setaceum, Polypremum procumbens, Schizachyrium scoparium, Triplasis purpurea, and Verbesina encelioides.
