Habitat and Description: Frequent colonies in igneous-gravelly soil on S-facing gentle slope of low hill in grassy basin. Grassland of Hilaria swallenii, Bouteloua curtipendula and Hilaria mutica dotted with various shrubs. Associates include Condalia ericoides, Croton pottsii, Dalea neomexicana, Dyschoriste decumbens, Dyssodia pentachaeta, Echinocactus horizonthalonius, Ephedra sp., Euphorbia dentata, Gaura coccinea, Koeberlinia spinosa, Krameria sp., Lesquerella fendleri, Machaeranthera tanacetifolia, Melamposium leucanthum, Mentzelia multiflora, Mimosa aculeaticarpa, Nolina sp., Opuntia sp., Prosopis gladulosa var. torreyana, Psilostrophe tagentia, Tiquilia canescens, Verbana neomexicana, Yucca elata, Ziziphus obtusifolius.
