Habitat and Description: Rare in protection of granjeno and other thorny shrubs in mesquite-hackberry brush thicket on deep sand otherwise supporting sandhill grassland /forbland vegetation, on undulating landscape underlain by Lissie Formation or perhaps Pleistocene terrace deposits. Woody associates include Acacia smallii, Celtis pallida, C. retiuculata, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Ehretia anacua, Lantana urticoides, Opuntia lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Toxicodendron radicans, Vitis mustangensis, Zanthoxylum hirsutum, Z. fagara.
