Locality: United States, Texas, Refugio, Both sides of main N-S road on W arm of Welder Ranch, ca. 0.7 airmiles NE of center of North St. Nicholas Lake. Vidaurri Quadrangle. Elev. 70 - 75 ft.

Habitat and Description: Local in immediate area, one population of ca. 100 plants on tight claypan soils mapped as Orelia fine sandy loam, in sparingly vegetated low spot +/- level coastal prairie underlain by Lissie Formation (near contact with Beaumont Formation), in scarcely perceptible drainageway leading to North St. Nicholas Lake. Tips of most individuals browsed, presumably by cattle. Associates include Chloris verticillatus, Croton capitatus, Desmanthus virgatus, Echinocactus texensis, Eragrostis secundiflora, Gomphrena nealleyi, Helenium amarum, Iva annua, Opuntia lindheimeri, Panicum hians, Polygonum ramosissimum, Sida ciliaris, Spartina spartinae, Sporobolus pyramidatus, Tridens congestus, Willkommia texana, and stunted Prosopis glandulosa.
