Habitat and Description: Common in utility line clearing through pine-oak forest on sandy slope at contact of WIllis and Fleming formations. Herbaceous associates include Aureolaria grandiflora, Bulbostylis sp., Croptilon divaricatum, Crotallaria sagitalis, Crotonopsis elliptica, Cyperus retrofractus, Dichanthelium lanuginosum, D. laxiflorus, Diodia teres, Gymnopogon ambiguus, Helianthemum carolinianum, Heterotheca pilosa, Hypericum drummondii, Hypericum gentianoides, Ipomoaea pandurata, Krigia occidentalis, Liatris elegans, Monarda punctata, Panicum capillare, Pensetmon laxiflorus, Phlox pilosa, Pteridium aquilinum, Pycnanthemum albescens, Silene subciliata, Solidago odora, Strophostyles umbellata, Stylosanthes biflora, and Vernonia texana.
