Habitat and Description: Locally abundant along gopher mounds in grazed pasture with no standing grass cover, in mesquite savanna on well-drained loose sandy soils of South Texas Sand Sheet. Associates include Acalypha radians, Aphanostephus skirrhobasis, Chloris cucullata, Coreopsis nuecensoides, Froelichia floridana, Gaillardia pulchella, Galactia canescens, Gamochaeta falcata, Helianthemum sp., Lechea sp., Linaria texana, Lobelia berlandieri, Mitracarpus brevifolius, Oenothera laciniata, Paronychia jonesii, Phacelia austrotexana, Phlox drummondii, Rhynchosia americana, Rudbeckia hirta, Sabatia campestris, and Senecio ampullaceus.
