Habitat and Description: Travertine springs in red rock area, canyon with cottonwood, willow, hackberry, soapberry; Adiantum etc at springs. Multibranched shrub in sheltered areas, to 2 m; frs (mature) 11-12 mm diam., ext. very dark purple-red (essentially black), juicy, with some dark red juice but pulp yellow and juicy.
