Habitat and Description:
Colony-forming, thornless intricately-branched shrub mostly 1 m tall; occasional in open shrubland on somewhat hard-packed well-drained neutral loamy fine sand (Delmita Series) on very gently undulating landscape of Holocene eolian sand atop gray sandstone of Goliad formation. Woody associates include Acacia berlandieri, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Leucophyllum frutescens, Opuntia lindheimeri, Sophora secundiflora, Yucca treculeana.
