Habitat and Description: Intricately-branched shrub to ca. 1 m tall; localy frequent in forb-dominated vegetation on deep loose sand on sandhill within claypan savanna, on undulating landscape containing coastal prairies and live oak mottes underlain by Lissie Formation. Site dominated by Heterotheca subaxillaris. Other associates include Chamaecrista fasciculata, Chrysopsis pilosa, Cnidoscolus texanus, Croton parksii, Elyonurus tripsacoides, Eupatorium compositifolium, Gaillardia aestivalis, Helianthus debilis, Paspalum plicatulum, Rosa bracteata, Schizachyrium scoparium, Vitis mustangensis, Zanthoxylum sp.
