Habitat and Description: Intricately-branched shrub to 1 m tall or more, localy common, the most conspicuous woody plant in forb-dominated vegetation on loose well-drained grayish loamy sand on consicuous sand ridge. Associates include Allium elmendorfii, Aphanostephus skirrhobasis, Argemone sp., Astragalus nuttallianus, Bromus catharticus, Callirhoe involucrata, Cnidoscolus texanus, Croton parksii, Dalea obovata, Eriogonum multiflorum, Eupatorium compositifolium, Hordeum pusillum, Hymenopappus artemisiifolius, Lepidium virginicum, Lesquerella grandiflora, Linaria texana, Lupinus subcarnosus, Matelea cynanchoides, Oenothera grandis, O. laciniata, Opuntia lindheimeri, Pediomelum, rhombifolium, Phlox drummondii var. wilcoxiana, Physalis spathulifolia, Pyrrhopappus pauciflorus, Rumex hastatulus, Sphaeralcea lindheimeri, Tetragonatheca repanda, Tradescantia sp., Urtica chamaedryoides, Vicia sp.
