Habitat and Description: Occasional in open areas in ungrazed mesquite savanna on somewhat tight crusty sand or find sand on level upland underlain by Holocene windblown deposits. Associates include Acalypha radians, Aristida sp., Aphanostephus skirrhobosis, Bouteloua hirsuta, Brachiara ciliatissima, Cenchrus spinifex, Chamaecrista texana, Chloris cucullata, Croton argyranthemus, Eragrostis secundiflora, Gaillardia sp., Galactia canescens, Hedyotis subviscosa, Lesquerella linderheimeri, Linaria texana, Phlox drummondii, Scutellaria muriculata, Sphaeralcea pedatifida, Walteria indica.
