Habitat and Description: Occasional in open areas in ungrazed mesquite savanna on somewhat tight crusty sand or find sand on level upland underlain by Holocene windblown deposits. ssociates include Acalypha radians, Aristida sp., Aphanostephus skirrobasis, Bouteloua hirsuta, Brachiaria ciliatissima, Cenchrus spinifex, Chamaechrista texana, Chloris cucullata, Croton argyranthemus, Eragrostis secundiflora, Gaillardia sp., Galactia canescens, Hedyotis subviscosa, Lesquerella lindheimeri, Linaria texana, Phlox drummondii, Scutellaria muriculata, Sphaeralcea pedatifida, Tetraneuris linearifolia var. arenicola, Waltheria indica.
