Habitat and Description: Locally common, at least 100 shrubs in small area of public access, in remnant thornscrub on calcareous fine sandy loam Typic Calciustolls (Hidalgo Series). Woody associates include Acacia rigidula, Borrichia frutescens, Callisia sp., Castela erecta var. texana, Colubrina texensis, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Opuntia englemannii var. lindheimeri, O. leptocaulis, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Pithecellobium ebano, Prosopis glandulosa, Randia rhagocarpa, Xylothamia palmeri, Zanthoxylum fagara, and Ziziphus obtusifolius.
