Habitat and Description: Tall shrub. Occasional in open Ashe juniper woodland on stony clay or clay loam on steep rocky W-facing slope of Edwards Limestone. Woody associates include Berberis trifoliolata, Ceanothus herbaceus, Celtis reticulata, Croton fruticulosus, Diospyros texana, Ilex vomitoria, Juniperis ashei, Ptelea trifoliata, Quercus buckleyi, Quercus fusiformis, Q. sinuata var. breviloba, Rhus toxicodendron, R. virens, Ulmus crassifolia, and Yucca rupicola.
