Habitat and Description: Rare in blackland prairie on heavy clay Vertisols (Ferris series), opening in upland loblolly pine forest. Associates include Iva angustifolia, Carex mucronata, Agalinis heterophylla, Euphorbia marginata, Palafoxia callosa, Aster ericoides, Eustoma grandiflorum, Cacalia plantaginea, Dalea helleri, D. multiflorum, Penstemon cobaea, Rudbeckia hirta, and Salvia lyrata.
