Habitat and Description: Common understory tree in pecan woodland on rather loose fine sand or coarse silty alluvium soils on terrace. Woody associates include Acer neguno, Campsis radicans, Carya illinoinensis, Celtis laevigata, Ehretia anacua, Fraxinus pensylvanica, Melia azedarach, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Platanus occidentalis, Salix nigra, Sapium sebiferum, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Smilax bona-nox, Toxicodendron radicans, Ulmus americana, R. crassifolia, and Vitis mustangensis.
