Habitat and Description: Rare in openings in blackbrush dominated thorn scrubland on Coy sandy clay loam on low hilltop underlain by Yegua Formation (Eocene). Woody associates include Acacia rigidula, A. schaffneri, Berberis trifoliolata, Castela erecta, Celtis pallida, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Ephedra antisyphilitica, Guaiacum angustifolium, Lycium berlandieri, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Rhus microphylla, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Xylothamia palmeri, Yucca treculeana, and Ziziphus obtusifolius.
