Habitat and Description: Rare in late-successional grassland portion of live oak savanna on moderate slope and upland on grayish loamy sand on isolated deposit of Deweyville Formation. Associates include Acalypha radians, Ambrosia psilostachya, Andropogon gerardi, Bouteloua curtipendula, Cenchrus spinifex, Cnidoscolus texanus, Croton capitatus, C. parksii, Cyperus spp., Diospyros texana, Elyonurus tripsacoides, Eupatorium compositifolium, Helianthus argophyllus, Heterotheca subaxillaris, Palafoxia sp., Panicum capillarioides, Paspalum monostachyum, P. Plicatulum, Rhynchosia americana, Schizachyrium scoparium, and Zanthoxylum sp.
