Habitat and Description: Occasional but very conspicuous in midgrass grassland on high terrace or valley flat on level upland. Grassland dominated by Schizachyrium scoparium and Bothriochloa ischaemum. Other associates include Eriogonum longiflolium, Ambrosia psilostachya, Wedelia hispida, Sorghastrum nutans, Euphorbia marginata, and Liatris mucronata.
