Habitat and Description: In level clearing with thin pine duff. Very loose sandy soil. Mature pine-oak woodland with Juniperus, Ilex, Callicarpa, Opuntia, Cnidoscolus, Vitis, Rubus, Rhus toxicodendron. Erect perennial herb ca. 40 cm tall from woody root. Ray fls clear chrome yellow w. green veins on abaxial side, disk purple-red.
