Habitat and Description: Shrub to 1 m. Locally frequent in diverse if somewhat weedy open thornscrub begetation on shallow sandy soils over caliche of the Goliad Formation. Associates include Acacia greggii, Aloysia gratissima, Baccharis texana, Capsicum annuum, Colubrina texensis, Forestiera angustifolia, Guaiacum angustifolium, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Leucophyllum frutescens, Prosopis glandulosa, Schaefferia cuneifolia, Sideroxylon celastrinum, Trixis inula,Yucca treculeana, Zanthoxylum fagara, Ziziphus obtusifolius, Acanthocereus pentagonus, Opuntia leptocaulis, and Opuntia engelmannii var. lindheimeri.
