Habitat and Description: Rare in dryish sandy loam in longleaf pine forest from which understory was recently removed. On +/- level upland underlain by Willis Formation. Associates include Andropogon gerardii, Berlandiera etonicifolia, Callicarpa americana, Chrysopsis pilosa, Croton capitatus, Crotonopsis elliptica, Diodia teres, Eupatorium Capillifolium, Euphorbia corollata, Hedyotis nigricans, Hypericum cf. gymnanthum, Polypremum procumbens, Pteridium aquilinum, Rhus copallina, Schizachyrium scoparium, Solidago odora, Tephrosia onobrychoides, and Trichostema dichotomum.
