Habitat and Description: Common on tight fine sandy loam (Orelia Series) otherwise supporting claypan savanna vegetation of mesquite, huisache and midgrasses, on seasonally wet low-lying landscape underlain by Beaumont Formation. Associates include Prosopis glandulosa, Acacia smallii, Setaria parviflora, Ambrosia psilostachya, Helenium amarum, Isocoma drummondii, Sporobolus pyramidatus, Chloris verticillata, Cienfuegosia drummondii, Grindelia oolepis and Sida ciliaris.
