Habitat and Description: Rare in grazed coastal prairie on sandy soils over claypan, on very gently undulating upland landscape underlain by Lissie Formation. Most stems growing in protection of Rosa bracteata thickets. Principal associates include Paspalum plicatulum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Helenium amarum, Elyonurus tripsacoides, Euthamia pulverulenta, and Iva angustifolia.
