Habitat and Description: Locally common in very shallow stony gravelly soil with somewhat sandy veneer. Associates include Acacia rigidula, Acalypha hederacea, Berberis trifoliolata, Calliandra conferta, Calylophus hartwegii, Cordia podocephala, Croton incanus, Erioneuron pilosum, Forestiera angustifolia, Galphimia angustifolia, Hedyotis nigricans, Heliotropium torreyi, Hermannia texana, Hymenopappus scabiosaeus, Melampodium sp., Passiflora tenuiloba, Polygala ovatifolia, Salvia ballotiflora, Salvia texana, Schaefferia cuneifolia.
