Habitat and Description: Flat, highly disturbed open area in gently rolling hills. Soils hard-packed, very gravelly. Little organic material on surface. Pine taeda forest w. Quercus stellata, Q. marilandica, and Juniperus virginiana. Erect perennial ca. 60 cm tall, forming colony in full sun at roadedge. Soil large gravel and red sand. Infl branches erect, stigmas and anthers dark black-purple.
