Habitat and Description: Frequent shrub in mixed shrubland on shallow stony clay over Edwards Limestone exposed on mesa top. Woody associates include Acacia sp., Agave lechuguilla, Berberis trifoliolata, Condalia viridis, Dalea formosa, Dasylirion texanum, Echinocactus horizonthalonius, Echinocereus enneacanthus, e. triglochidiatus, Ephedra antisyphilitica, Ferocactus hamatacanthus, Forestiera angustifolia, Fouquieria splendens, Gutierrezia sp., Juniperus pinchotii, Leucohyllum frutescens, Menodora longiflora, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, O. schottii, Sophora secundiflora, Wedelia hispida, and Yucca treculeana.
