Habitat and Description: Frequent shrub in brushy live oak woodland on shallow stony clay soils on gentle to moderate upland slope underlain by Cretaceous limestone (Edwards or similar formation). Woody associates include Berberis trifoliolata, Bernardia myricifolia, Celtis reticulata, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Croton fruticulosus, Diospyros texana, Eysenhardtia texana, Forestiera pubescens, Juniperus ashei, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri, Prosopis glandulosa, Ptelea trifoliata, Quercus fusiformis, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Sophora secundiflora, Ulmus crassifolia, Ungnadia speciosa, Yucca rupicola.
