Habitat and Description: Rare in coastal prairie (formerly heavily grazed but rested for three years) on somewhat poorly drained clayey soils. Associates include Andropogon glomeratus, Asclepias viridis, Baptisia bracteata, B. sphaerocarpa, Cacalia lanceolata, Carex spp., Cyperus virens, Eupatorium glaucescens, E. serotinum, Fimbristylis sp., Hypericum (Triadenum) sp., Juncus brachycarpus, J. interior, J. marginatus, Leersia hexandra, Liatris acidota, Linum medium var. texanum, Lythrum alatum, Mimosa strigillosa, Neptunia lutea, Panicum hians, Paspalum plicatulum, Polypogon monspeliensis, Rhynchospora corniculata, Rudbeckia hirta, Ruellia caroliniana, Sabatia campestris, Sagittaria papillosa, Schizachyrium scoparium, Spiranthes vernalis, Tridens strictus.
