Habitat and Description: Banner violet, with white patch basally. Locally frequent in open shrubland on outcrop of red clay and gypsum of Quartermaster Formation (Permian). Associates include Astragalus gracilis, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. hirsuta, Calylophus hartwegii, Chamaesyce fendleri, Gaillardia pinnatifida, Hymenopappus sp., Lesquerella gordonii, Lithospermum incisum, Melampodium leucanthum, Penstemon albidus, Polygala alba, and Thelesperma megapotamicum.
