Habitat and Description: Rare in heavily utilized cattle pasture, restricted to clumps of Platyopuntia in prairie grassland on shallow stony soils on slightly convex ridgetop underlain by Duck Creek or Kiamichi Limestone. Associates include Argythamnia mercurialina , Bouteloua curtipendula, Centaurea americana, Chrysopsis canescens, Commelina erecta, Eriogonum longifolium, Gutierrezia texana, Liatris mucronata, Phyllanthus polygonoides, Prosopis glandulosa, Rhus trilobata, Schizachyrium scoparium.
