Habitat and Description: Steep hills with damp sandy soil with large gravel. Mature Pine-Oak forest. Associated with Ilex vomitoria, Quercus marilandica, Stillingia, Baptisia and Cnidoscolus. Annual to 50 cm tall, latex white. Phyllaries purple, flts pinkish lavender, pappus shiny-white.
